- Hello,
- I have a Zoom 28.8 Internal modem and it connects to my ISP usually at
-
- 26.7 with an occasional 28.8 connect, however the transfer rates over
- the net are quite a bit slower than this. At 26.7 I would expect to
- see about 2.7 - 3.0 KBS transfer rate however, when using Netscape and
- downloading a large file say from MS in Washington, my transfer rate
- dropped to .3 KBS ( this was Sat. in the afternoon) At about 1 am
- Mich. time I retried the transfer and succesfully got the file but the
- transfer rate was still only about 1 KBS. (26.7 connect speed to the
- ISP )
-
- Does it appear as though something is not correctly set up in my modem
- ? , or is it (as I suspect) just an example of "Net Gridlock" if so
- then there is a LOT of wasted bandwidth worrying about 28.8 connect
- speeds to ones ISP when the transfer rates from the source to ones ISP
- appear to be nowhere near a 28.8 connect speed.
-
- Any input on this would be greatly appreciated 8-)
-
- TIA
